My husband and I are planning a road trip from Dallas to Chicago this December. We are planning to leave the day after Christmas and return on the 30th. I know it normally takes about 15 hours, but I wasn’t sure if we should expect it to take longer with winter road conditions? Should we get chains for our tires? We are a little nervous about the road conditions and are still debating if we should make the trek. I know chicago will be cold, but I also heard it is beautiful during the holiday season.

15 hours my @ss. it takes me and my family 2 days to get from nj to florida. its more like a few day trip. plus, the snow is a bitch anywhere, so the highway will be slowed to about 30 or mph. not including accidents and delays. go a few days before for a little flexibility.

the W hotel , it is a wonderful hotel and beautiful hotel. they have two locations its very nice and comfy with great looking rooms. There is the one on lake shore drive and then the one that they call the city center.

i would just browse around now to see what they have. you still have quite a bit ofitme befor moving so i wouldn’t worry about making any deals right now but if you get an idea of whats out there then it’ll make it easier when the time comes. and maybe along your searches you’ll find some deal you can strike up that will wait for you when yo uget out there
