Donald Gunn and Michael Conrad to Moderate NYF Executive Jury for 2012 International Advertising Awards
Michael Conrad and Donald Gunn, 2012 NYFA Executive Jury Moderators
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 12, 2011
New York Festivals® International Advertising Awards announced today that Donald Gunn, Founder of the renowned Gunn Report, will reprise his role as Moderator of the 2012 New York Festivals International Advertising Awards Executive Jury and will be joined by Michael Conrad, President of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. Unlike other competitions, the NYFA Executive Jury does not elect a chairman or president — all members are of equal status. Mr. Gunn and Mr. Conrad, both experienced moderators, will guide the proceedings, which promises to be the world’s largest gathering of worldwide chief creative officers ever to judge an advertising competition.
“There are three great reasons to participate,” said Mr. Conrad, “A brilliant Jury – Getting the best possible leadership perspective on the state of the ad business for the Berlin School of Creative Leadership; NYF CEO Jim Smyth – He’s building a relevant and inspiring award-show for today’s ad-industry; and being able to join Donald Gunn as Executive Jury Moderator.”
Donald Gunn began working at Leo Burnett fresh from Cambridge University, beginning his career as an account executive and then six years later as a copywriter. He served as Burnett’s Managing Director in the Netherlands and Switzerland and Creative Director in South Africa and France. In 1984, Mr. Gunn was appointed Leo Burnett’s Director of Creative Resources Worldwide, based in chicago. He created several Burnett institutions which are the envy of the industry – including the World TV Update and Worldbeater Reels, and Global Product Committee – as well as spearheading the worldwide study on creativity and effectiveness, “Do Award Winning Commercials Sell?” After retirement from Burnett, Donald launched The Gunn Report & Showreel of the Year, “the official” measure of competitive excellence for the advertising industry.
Michael Conrad brought German engineering to global quality management in advertising, helping Leo Burnett Worldwide Inc. become “Global Agency Network” of the Year in 2000 (AdAge) and “Most Awarded Agency Network” in 2001 (Gunn Report). Under his creative leadership 27 Leo Burnett agencies were named “Agency of the Year” in their countries, some of them more than once. Mr. Conrad spent 34 years in advertising before his retirement in 2003. Upon retiring, ADC Germany’s Sebastian Turner approached Michael to help develop ADC’s education initiatives; the idea was born to establish The Berlin School of Creative Leadership.
“Donald and Michael are respected throughout the industry; they are the perfect choice to moderate the 2012 Executive Jury. Their experience and reputations project integrity, fairness, and a thorough understanding of the advertising industry. We are honored to have them guide the jury on its path to select the World’s Best Advertising™,” said Michael O’Rourke, President, New York Festivals.
The Executive Jury sessions launch the New York Show, a two-day series of events beginning on May 2nd and featuring creative panel discussions, keynote speakers, networking events, the 2012 Executive Jury Press Conference, exhibits, and the May 3rd International Advertising Awards ceremony. All New York Show events and the 2012 awards gala will take place at the New York Public Library’s Beaux-Arts landmark building located at 455 Fifth Avenue at 40th Street in New York City.

Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism Invites Travelers to Make Montrose, Colo., a Vacation Base Camp for Budget-Friendly Winter Adventure
Snowmobiling in Montrose, Colo.
Montrose, Colo. (PRWEB) November 02, 2011
The Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism invites travelers to make Montrose their base camp for a winter vacation that is packed with fun and adventure, yet won’t break the bank. Winter travelers may fly directly to Montrose Regional Airport from Denver, Dallas, chicago, Houston, Newark and Atlanta (which is typically less expensive than flying directly into other nearby resort airports).
Montrose is at the epicenter of some of Colorado’s finest ski resorts. Telluride, Crested Butte, Monarch Mountain and Powderhorn are within a two-hour drive Montrose. Book a reasonably-priced room in Montrose and hit a different ski resort each day!
There are also many off-slope winter activities in and around Montrose. The 62,000 acres of public lands around town offer hundreds of miles of excellent snowmobile trails. Black Mesa, which receives an average of 500 inches of snow each year, offers some of the most spectacular powder riding in the region. The Uncompaghre Plateau, 30 minutes from Montrose, is characterized by wide open spaces offering great intermediate riding on groomed and un-groomed trails, as well as climbs that are not too steep. Grand Mesa, one of the largest flat-topped mountains in the world, is 40 minutes from Montrose. It boasts 525 inches of snow per year and is home to the 123-mile-long Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail (“The SP” for short), the longest snowmobile trail in the lower 48.
Montrose averages 274 days of sunshine a year, giving winter vacationers the opportunity to snowshoe in the morning and golf in the afternoon. At Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, one of the gems of the national park system, visitors may cross-country ski or snowshoe on the six-mile long South Rim Drive. Other recommended snowshoe routes include Oak Flat Loop and Rim Rock Trail, as well as any part of the canyon’s rim. Ranger-guided snowshoe tours and a moonlight cross-country ski outing are also available January through March. Call 970-249-1914, ext. 423 for details and reservations.
Wintertime golf is also available at one of the three courses located in Montrose. The Links at Cobble Creek features jaw-dropping views of the San Juan Mountains and offers a links-style golfing. The Bridges is a par-71, Nicklaus-designed course. Montrose Black Canyon Golf Club offers the best of both worlds with a park-style course on the front nine and a links-style course on the back.
Another year-round activity in Montrose – road biking. The city has a number of bike paths and bike trails that weave through town and offer a great way to see the sights. Stop by the visitors’ center to pick up a bicycle trail map. For rentals, gear and route recommendations, check out Cascade Bicycles (21 N Cascade Ave.).
Those who crave a dose of culture will delight the Montrose’s museums. The Ute Indian Museum is one of the most complete collections of the Ute people in the nation. The Museum of the Mountain West offers docent-led tours that highlight more than 500,000 artifacts of the Mountain West from 1880-1930, displayed in store and office settings.

Pushing.net Announces Availability of ‘Chicago’ Domain Name Portfolio
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 16, 2008
Pushing.net, one of the Internet’s largest sites for leasing or purchasing websites and domain names, announces the release of a new portfolio of domain names that include the term ‘Chicago.’
The most up-to-date portfolio list, which can be viewed by searching for the term Chicago, contains more than 275 of these specific domain names that either begin with or contain the term ‘Chicago.’
“Pushing’s ‘Chicago’ portfolio is fairly expansive and all of these domains will be of great interest to many groups,” said Pushing.net’s founder, David Wieland. “We’re very excited to make these domains available for lease to the public for the very first time.”
Wieland continues, “Domain leasing is a relatively new phenomenon, but makes an enormous amount of sense for most small to medium business owners and entrepreneurs. Most of these domains will sell in the several thousand dollar range, and for most businesses, that investment level is too large. Like real estate, domains can be leased through Pushing.net for a much lower monthly rate, putting less stress on cash-flow, yet still reaping all the benefits of the domain.” Such benefits, Wieland says, are important to a company’s success.
“The use of domain names in both Internet-based and traditional brick and mortar businesses has exploded over the last few years. Having control over the best domain name for your particular business drastically improves your customers’ perception of your company’s legitimacy and new-age mentality. However, perhaps the most compelling reason to control your industry-specific domain name is to eliminate the risk that your competitors can do the same.
“For example, the domain Chicago Pool Supplies .com is the best possible domain name for any one of the several businesses selling pool supplies in Chicago. Owning or leasing this domain and either building a new website to promote your business, or directing the domain to your current website, gives one lucky company a major advantage over all its competitors. One can easily imagine the effectiveness of a simple advertisement that just shows the domain name ‘ChicagoPoolSupplies.com’ and doesn’t need to explain what the ad is trying to promote, because it’s self-evident in the domain.”
Wieland notes the following domains as other domains that should generate high interest: Chicago Hotel and Travel .com, Chicago East Village .com, chicago Computers .net, Chicago Mobile Phone .com, Chicago Financing .net, Chicago Investment .net, Chicago Networking .net, Chicago Offices .net, VC Chicago .com, Auctioneers Chicago .com, Billiards Chicago .com, MBA Chicago .com, Networks Chicago .com, Yachts Chicago .com, Golfing Chicago .net, Local Chicago .net, Chicago IL Lawyers .com, Chicago Loop Restaurants .com, Chicago Chauffeur .net, Chicago Tech Solutions .com, and Seafood Chicago .com (no spaces in the actual domains).
The ‘Chicago’ portfolio is one of hundreds, comprising several thousand premium domain names on the site.
Pushing.net’s unique domain name leasing concept is new in the domain name space and comes at an interesting time in the domain name investment industry, as the importance of a good domain name rises and traditional domain name ownership revenue sources decline.
