  • Chicago Native – First Lady Michelle Obama creates national weight loss goal

Posted by admin on February 16th, 2010 and filed under Uncategorized | No Comments »

The First Lady wants to lose weight. She wants to lose a lot of weight. We’re not talking 10, 20, or 50 pounds. Michelle Obama has a weight loss goal that’s bigger than you and William “The Refrigerator” Perry combined. She wants to lose billions of pounds of fat.

Based on how we eat in Chicagoland, with favorites like Italian Beef, Deep Dish Pizza, or Chicago-Style Hot Dogs loaded with mustart, peppers, onions, and relish, you’d think she could get a big chunk of work done right here. But the girl born, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, from the South Side of chicago is thinking big. I mean big like a Cubs World Series big.

You’ve seen pictures of Michelle Obama. She’s in great physical shape, perhaps even better than the president. So, she’s the last person you’d expect to read about on a website named http://www.weightlosspictures.org , right?

Michelle Obama has the body she wants. She looks like she has the same figure she had when she graduated from Whitney Young High School on the West Side of Chicago. Her plan and goal isn’t about her own weight loss. But yet it’s still personal. She is out to help children across America to lose weight.

There is a real need behind the First Lady wanting to launch this widespread weight loss movement. The important health statistics she’s quoting are staggering. Fact: 1 in 3 children in the United States are obese. Fact: The country spends $150 billion a year in treating obesity related health problems.

Let’s Move” is the name of Mrs. Obama’s new nationwide campaign. Her weight loss picture shows a plan where kids do not spend every waking hour sitting in front of the TV or texting or playing video games. Her goal is to motivate and inspire kids and the adults in their lives to be active, and to make many other healthy choices.

Mrs. Obama says she understands there are people who say government shouldn’t tell people what to do because everyone has the right to personal choices. She actually says, ”I agree with them.” But this isn’t government. This is a First Lady doing what First Ladies have the opportunity and platform to do…make a difference on issues that can help Americans who need it.

Obese kids need help. And it’s a segment of the population that is gaining weight and size every day. Think about all of the kids who wake up every morning feeling trapped in their own body. They don’t like to look in the mirror or be seen by other people. They don’t like to go to school because other kids make fun of them, look at them funny, or don’t want to be friends with them simply because they are obese. Wouldn’t it be great to help these kids become happier and healthier now?

Who cares about Republicans, Democrats, conservatives or liberals? This is about someone painting a weight loss picture for those who can’t see one or who aren’t looking at one. This is about drawing attention to helping kids who can’t or don’t know how to help themselves to lose weight.

With the campaign “Let’s Move,” Michelle Obama admits, “Our goal is ambitious. We want to eliminate this problem in a generation.” Now wouldn’t that be a motivational metamorphosis and weight loss success story for the ages?
