This was filmed at the Arie Crown Theater in chicago, IL in November of 1972. Chicago performed an entire week of sold out performances at the ACT.
“Saturday in the Park” was written by Robert Lamm and can be heard on their 1972 ‘Chicago V’ album.
Enjoy!

THe song’s original title was Monday in the Park ,but it just didn’t sound right. So, they changed it to Tuesday in the Park. Then, Friday in McCarthur’s Park. The rest is history.

From a huge 70′s …
From a huge 70′s Rock fan……….Could this be the most talented group of the 1970′s? That would be an almost impossible task of voting for with as many great groups, duos, and single artist there was from that era. Best or not, most talented or not, they were a Super Rock Band with some fantastic songs. Thank You for a stroll down memory lane.

Very wrong, Sir. …
Very wrong, Sir. This song hit number 3 on the Billboard charts in 1972. It was also a Gold Single. The album it came from, ‘Chicago V’, went double platinum and spent 9 weeks at number ONE on the BB chart. Also, CHI didn’t get popular around 1976. They already had 10 platinum albums by them. They first toured as headliners and went platinum in late 1969. You have a pretty bad memory, dude.

This song really …
This song really never started to hit the airwaves untill Chicago became popular in 1976 1977. There was no play back in 1972 unless it was local. so don’t pee your pants about Vietnam in 1972. 20 % of Vietnam Vets are cry babies. The rest are proud of their service. That means 80% of Vietnam Vets are thankfull. You go cry in somebodey elses Wheaties.

I guess it’s all …
I guess it’s all relative. I was born in ’73 so for me it was rosy, but I was a kid. The only thing was I went to an all white school and there were real hardcore bullies there. Now there is so much government control I don’t think over schools which is kinda a good thing. I got punched a few times in grade school.

I remember so much …
I remember so much THIS SONG, and our band, doing its drills to it. It was SO MUCH FUN, and I felt so proud!!!! Thank you Chicago, for so many great memories, at all the football games when we featured your music at our halftimes.
And that was while I was cheering for Scott Hoffland, #51, the center for Harvey High School. Wow….. those were the days.

Not a worry in the …
Not a worry in the world back in ’72? Yeah, right buddy. My best friend was just killed in Vietnam, racial tensions were riding high, and stagflation was running wild, with the Nixon administration putting price freezes in place to try to deal with it. Maybe all the pot you were smoking made the world look quite rosy, but I got news for you — it wasn’t. Not the best of times, but I’d gladly take it over what we have now, where people don’t give a about each other anymore, but about cash.
