My husband and I are planning a road trip from Dallas to Chicago this December. We are planning to leave the day after Christmas and return on the 30th. I know it normally takes about 15 hours, but I wasn’t sure if we should expect it to take longer with winter road conditions? Should we get chains for our tires? We are a little nervous about the road conditions and are still debating if we should make the trek. I know chicago will be cold, but I also heard it is beautiful during the holiday season.
Any tips would be great! Thanks!
15 hours my @ss. it takes me and my family 2 days to get from nj to florida. its more like a few day trip. plus, the snow is a bitch anywhere, so the highway will be slowed to about 30 or mph. not including accidents and delays. go a few days before for a little flexibility.

shouldn’t be too bad. I mean they are generally not bad in chicago but tx could be ice. i would think maybe 2 days if you drive dcareful. I wouldn’t drive too fast. Its just texas you will have to be careful in i think. cause snow isn’t big deal. chains i don’t think you would need them and some states its outlawed.
