  • Is it a bad idea to use chicago screws to bind a book that is five inches thick?

Posted by admin on January 26th, 2010 and filed under Chicago | 1 Comment »

I am building my portfolio for graphic design and I am considering using the chicago screw bookbinding technique. I have enough pages to fill a five inch binder. Is it possible to use the chicago screws to bind it and still be able to easily turn the pages?
I am sure everyone will end up bring in 3 ring binders. I want mine to stand out. That’s why I am interested in the chicago screws.
It is for my end of year sophomore review at school. It’s for a scholarship.

It will be tougher to flip through than with a ring binder.

With this sort of presentation, it is crucial that it looks professional. What method do other people use? If you are just beginning in the field, it would might be a bad idea to be too ‘out there’.
