Soundstage Presents chicago – Live in Concert

I don’t know for sure but don’t think hardly any of the original band members were in this video. If you really want a GREAT DVD video then get the one of the Eagles on tour in Australia. The Chicago’s DVD was awful. I listened/watched about two songs and shut it off. The should give all who bought it a refund.
Ya think?

…so I’ll just write unhelpful nonesense.
As far as I know this is their second live DVD, their first was filmed in a studio with advert brakes, which rather spoiled the mood. If you want to guess what songs are played and where they’re played, you can, but I don’t know. If we’re lucky another reviewer (if someone else bother to write one) may know and give some details.
My only worry (not being American) is that Soundstage Presents Chicago-Live in Concert, suggests to me that this is a T.V. programme in the USA and that this, like the first is in a studio with advert brakes. If so, I don’t really want it.
If you know the answers to any of these, please write a review and slip this information in-thank you.

Chicago sounds like thry are on their last leg. The vocals are very weak and lack tempo. Perhaps I’m spoiled by the most recent Eagles concert however, I have to say this is the worst I’ve ever seen of Chicago. This includes live concerts I’ve attended and my CD’s. For some reason they have no “punch.” If it weren’t for the audience you’d fall asleep watching this performance.

If you are expecting the original works of Chicago, this DVD will not live up to your expectations. With substitute / new band members inserted, the tracks are played well, but are clearly not the same as the original renditions. All in all, the DVD is OK.

The main complaint I have is this: as a trombone player, I have always enjoyed listening to Chicago, and basically the video was very well done and enjoyable to watch and listen to. But I noticed that the blend of the horns was not recorded well. Lee L’s trumpet comes through nice and clear, and Walt P’s woodwinds also are recorded well, but for some reason Jimmy’s trombone was noticeably and very frustratingly weak throughout the majority of the entire recording. It was OK once when he and Lee were going back and forth in the duet they play in “Beginnings”, but the rest of the time Lee (and Walt) sound(s) considerably louder, and I was straining to hear Jimmy. Very disappointing for me – I do hope there is another concert recording of them which does a better mixing job.
